A 55-year-old man was sentenced to four months in prison and the payment of a thousand euros of provisional for a very serious episode that took place in 2019 in Santa Teresa Gallura.

According to the charge, the man killed a very old and sick dog (deprived of one eye) by hitting it repeatedly with an ax and causing the poor animal a large number of traumas and wounds with a fatal outcome.

The judge of the Court of Tempio, Alessandro Cossu, accepted the requests of the prosecutors Franca Cabiddu and Gianmarco Vargiu.

Again according to the file of the criminal trial concluded in the afternoon, the dog was called Giacomo and was harmless, as well as having serious movement problems . The thesis of the man denounced by the dog's owners did not convince the judge, the defendant has always maintained that he defended himself against an attack.

The indictment insists on the unjustified violence attributed to the defendant. The civil party appearing in court, the owner of the dog, was represented by the lawyer Giada Bernardi, specialized in legal actions for the protection of animals.
