2024 was a record year for the Santa Barbara Mining Trail. Nearly 3,500 hikers and pilgrims traveled over 500 kilometers on the trails of Sulcis Iglesiente, Guspinese and Arburese. The new year also started off in style . Hundreds of people have already booked their credentials at the CMSB Foundation offices in Iglesias. Many have completed the 30-stage itineraries in the first four weeks of January.

In 2023, there were 1,700 pilgrims . The figure doubled also thanks to the promotional initiative “Leg's go” reserved for under 35s. This year, the Camino is tinged with pink, thanks to the offer of free overnight stays for women in certain periods of the year .

"I discovered the Camino reading a post on Instagram. I was struck by the landscapes, especially the places along the coast ", comments Chiara Palazzi, a 27-year-old from Veneto, who has been hosting in the Nebida posada in recent days.

"We have achieved great results, but we must not stop . The Cammino has great potential. We must network. We need everyone's contribution", says Mauro Usai, mayor of Iglesias and president of the Foundation.
