First the request for a loan of small sums of money. Then the pressure became more and more vehement, up to the point of threats to obtain the money.
The Court of Cagliari has validated the arrest and ordered the precautionary measure of house arrest with an electronic bracelet against a forty-two-year-old resident of Sanluri, accused of aggravated extortion against a 62-year-old disabled civilian pensioner, his fellow countryman.
The investigation, conducted by the Carabinieri of the Sanluri Station, began in early January 2025, when the victim showed up at the station to report the extortion, which began in March of last year. The suspect initially took advantage of the pensioner's availability with requests for small loans, justified by alleged financial difficulties. Over the months, however, the requests increased both in number and amount, accompanied by threats of physical violence against the victim and her mother, in the event that the man refused to hand over more money or told what he was suffering.
In total, 60 thousand euros in cash and 40 thousand in jewelry were allegedly extorted. The measure of house arrest was also triggered because the person responsible was ready to flee to Switzerland.
Now we are trying to understand whether the forty-two-year-old acted in the same way on other occasions.
