A grueling wait at the emergency room ended tragically: Peppina Pinna, 83, from San Vero Milis, died after a six-and-a-half-hour wait at the San Martino hospital in Oristano.

The family members have filed a complaint with the Public Prosecutor's Office to shed full light on the incident and determine any responsibilities.

According to what has emerged so far, the elderly woman, who was already suffering from a heart condition, felt unwell on Thursday, December 4th. She arrived at the emergency room around 2:00 PM with a prescription for an urgent appointment, but remained in the waiting room for several hours until her condition worsened around 8:30 PM, at which point the doctors' intervention was insufficient.

The hospital's medical directors had already ordered a forensic examination to determine the cause of death. The 83-year-old's family, assisted by lawyer Paolo Todde, then filed a complaint with the Public Prosecutor's Office to determine whether the long wait may have contributed to the woman's deteriorating condition or whether her death was attributable to other causes.
