The Municipality of San Nicolò d'Arcidano is even more colorful.
Another mural has been created in an Enel cabin, this is the twentieth. The street art work was created by the famous Sardinian artist Mauro Patta . The work, entitled “ Icon ”, in the “Sa Mimosa” neighborhood, is dedicated to Santa Rita , a figure dear to the community of San Nicolò d'Arcidano.
The main subject is a woman in traditional dress in a symmetrical pose almost reminiscent of a sacred icon, all this told with a symbolic and contemporary language that develops in an alternation between figurative painting and graphic elements softened by mimosas and delicate Sardinian fabrics.
Enel-Distribuzione, the Enel Group company that manages the medium and low voltage electricity grid, has long been a promoter of the Cabine d'Autore project, which aims to transform electrical cabins into works of street art. Well-known writers and street artists bring their creativity, energy and originality to the walls of electrical infrastructures, transforming them into elements of artistic value capable of integrating increasingly into the urban and extra-urban territory.
Davide Fanari, mayor of San Nicolò d'Arcidano: "For decades now, our town has been carving out a central role in the history of Sardinian muralism. Our administration, in continuity with previous ones, firmly believes in mural art and its ability to beautify public assets and make the daily life of citizens, as well as tourists and visitors, more pleasant. Every year, we budget significant resources for the care of urban heritage."
Most of the murals are in the historic center and recall the ancient customs and crafts of the past. "This time - continues the mayor - we wanted to enhance a peripheral area, with a choral, urban and environmental intervention. We are sure that this will be only the first of many future collaborations with E-Distribuzione".
Alessandro Atzei, Head of the Sardinia Operations Area of E- Distribuzione: «We are proud to have contributed to the creation of this evocative work with the art of Mauro Patta with whom we have already had the pleasure of collaborating on the project».
The inauguration, in the presence of the mayor Fanari, the councilor Marco Atzori and the honorable Emanuele Cera, deputy mayor and regional councilor for the Municipality of San Nicolò d'Arcidano and Alessandro Atzei for E-Distribuzione.
