San Gavino Monreale: Illegal waste dump discovered; 44-year-old reported
The man had 44 out-of-use cars on his land, missing mechanical parts and bodywork, as well as other dangerous material.

The Carabinieri of San Gavino, with the support of their colleagues in Cagliari, have reported a 44-year-old local man for unauthorized waste management.
The man was illegally holding , on his property, 14 disused cars with no mechanical parts or bodywork, approximately 60 pieces of sheet metal and components, as well as various hazardous waste including parts containing asbestos, oil filters and exhausted lead batteries.
In the coming days, the Cagliari Ecological Operations Unit will begin technical inspections to determine any soil contamination and assess the environmental impact of dumping the harmful materials, also determining the need for any remediation measures.
