A wreath with red and blue ribbon and flowers was placed at the foot of the large mural dedicated to Gigi Riva which is located in San Gavino Monreale close to the old train station.

A tribute to Rombo di Tuono on behalf of the entire municipal administration, of the San Avavinese community starting from the Cagliari Club Ex Rossoblù, chaired by Roberto Ortu, which also includes former Cagliari players such as the San Avavinese goalkeeper Renato Copparoni. Furthermore, the Cagliari Club has also created a manifesto of participation in the pain of the passing of the legend Gigi Riva.

The mural was designed in 2007 by the artist Paolo "Mamblo" Mazzucco and the volunteers of the "Skizzo" cultural association, who in a few years transformed San Gavino Monreale into an open-air museum. The idea of dedicating a mural to the legendary Thunderclap came from the artist Paolo “Mamblo” Mazzucco: «With this work we wanted to pay homage to a man who gave the Sardinians great joy. I, like many other volunteers, paint out of passion to make San Gavino Monreale more and more beautiful, which can now count on a large number of murals."

The mural dedicated to Gigi Riva takes up the headlines from the newspapers of the time: «The work – adds Mazzucco – plays on colors such as white, black, grey, red and blue. Gigi Riva is a legend for all of us Sardinians because he preferred his love for Cagliari and his Sardinia to Juventus' money. His figure remains a point of reference for the values he transmitted while in today's football the "God of money" rules".
