Work on the first phase of the "Extraordinary maintenance and safety measures for urban road systems" in the municipality of Sorso will begin immediately after the Easter holidays. The first section affected is Corso Vittorio Emanuele, between Via Marogna and Via Piave.

Construction is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, April 8th. Temporary traffic regulations, established by order of the Municipal Police Commander, will be in effect for the duration of the work. These regulations include closing the affected section to vehicular traffic; imposing a parking ban; and designating alternative routes. The project is part of a broader project to upgrade and improve the safety of urban traffic in the historic center, for which the City Council has allocated a total of €1 million (€500,000 in regional funds and €500,000 in municipal co-financing). In addition to Corso Vittorio Emanuele, work will gradually also involve the following streets: Fiorentina, Umberto, Barisone, Pace, Murgia, Convento, Senes, Sernesto, Verdi, Jelithon, Corte Alessandria, Amsicora, Oruspe, Eleonora d'Arborea, Cantone Nieddu, Iennos, and the Cossu and Carta streets. The work will be carried out in sections and will involve removing the existing granite or cobblestone paving; resurfacing the subgrade and screed; and subsequently re-laying the paving. "With this project, we are launching a road redevelopment program in the historic center, starting with one of its most important axes," explains Mayor Fabrizio Demelas. "It's an investment in safety, decorum, and the quality of public spaces."
