The disputes against the mayor of Quartu, Graziano Milia , have been declared time-barred .
Therefore, even before the trial began, the process for the case of reimbursements for travel and missions was closed , linked to the years in which the mayor of Quartese was the president of the Province of Cagliari (later to become the metropolitan city).
According to the prosecution's accusations, it shouldn't have been the institution that paid for those transfers but the Committee of the Regions of the European Community of which Milia was a member.
Part of the charges had already been declared time-barred at the preliminary hearing , but today the judges of the Second Criminal Section of the Court of Cagliari accepted the reconstruction of the defender, the lawyer Guido Manca Bitti, deeming that even the remaining 17 thousand euros disputed by the prosecutor Andrea Vacca were to be declared extinct because too much time has passed .
The mayor of Quartu was accused of embezzlement for undue repayments dating back to the period from 2005 to 2010 .
For the same facts, Milia was recently sentenced by the Court of Auditors of Sardinia to pay 122 thousand euros to the Metropolitan City of Cagliari, but the defense has already challenged the sentence to the appellate jurisdictional section of the tax authorities.
