The Region: «Significant increase in the level of the reservoirs thanks to the rainfall of these days»Video di Renzo Gualà
«The rains that began on Thursday evening and continued throughout yesterday and today are contributing to a significant increase in the level of the reservoirs in eastern Sardinia , the area most affected by the water deficit emergency, which is why it has been decided to suspend the restrictions on drinking water and the bans on open-field irrigation provided for in Baronia by the previous Civil Protection Ordinance and by the Resolution of the Institutional Committee of the Regional Basin Authority».
The Region announced this in a note, which also states that «with Ordinance no. 1 of 18 January 2025, the General Director of Civil Protection approved the temporary modification - until 31 March 2025 - of the limitations of the Maccheronis dam reservoir, bringing it from 40.5 m to 42.3 m above sea level, a height already authorised since 1 April by the current Lamination Plan.
" The decision - the note continues - has the aim of preserving the water resource, and was taken after the meeting, convened yesterday morning by the General Directorate of the Regional Agency of the Hydrographic District of Sardinia - ADIS given the weather forecast for the current weekend, which was attended by the General Directorate of Public Works, the Sardinian Water Authority - ENAS and the General Directorate of Civil Protection, as well as the Mayors of the Municipalities of Posada and Torpè".
«All participants – adds the Region – have in fact given a favorable opinion to raising the current threshold, acknowledging that the Mayors themselves, in order to safeguard the safety of human life, property, settlements and the environment in the territories located downstream of the Maccheronis dam, have ensured the implementation of all measures envisaged by the current municipal civil protection plans ».
