Further severe weather continues in Sardinia , with the Civil Protection Department extending the weather alert for hydrogeological risk in several areas of the island. The Decentralized Functional Center of the Civil Protection Department has issued a new ordinary criticality warning (yellow), valid from 2:00 PM to 8:59 PM today, December 27, 2025, for the areas of Iglesiente, Campidano, and Flumendosa-Flumineddu.

The alert signals the possibility of thunderstorms that could cause critical situations in the area, especially in terms of hydrogeology. For this reason, the Civil Protection Department urges the public to exercise extreme caution. Among the main safety measures recommended in the event of thunderstorms are staying indoors and, if in basement or ground-floor spaces, moving to upper floors. It is also recommended to limit car travel to essential cases only and to stay constantly informed about evolving weather conditions and the instructions provided by local Civil Protection agencies. Finally, it is absolutely forbidden to cross swollen streams, either on foot or by any means, to stop near bridges, river banks, or waterways, or to use underpasses, which are often subject to sudden flooding.

The Municipality of Cagliari has also issued specific instructions for residents of the Pirri hamlet, which is under special observation in the event of severe weather. With today's warning, the Civil Protection Department has published a list of streets where parking is recommended for the duration of the alert, to reduce the risk of damage from potential flooding.

The affected streets are: Via Balilla (from the section between Piazza Italia and Via Dandolo) and its cross streets, Via Italia, Via Dolianova, Via Sinnai, Via Settimo, Via Mara, Via Donori, Via Santorre di Santarosa, Via Confalonieri, and Via Ampere. To allow residents to park their cars safely, the Municipality has designated the Terramaini swimming pool parking lot on Via Pisano as an alternative parking area, where vehicles can be moved as a precaution.
