The railway question in the Nuorese area arrives on the table of the prefect Giancarlo Dionisi , who this afternoon met the Trenitalia Nuorese committee which is fighting for the construction and strengthening of the railway network to and from the capital of Barbagia .

Present at the table were the mayor Andrea Soddu, the extraordinary administrator of the Province, Costantino Tidu, the president of Confindustria Giovanni Bitti. The president of the Chamber of Commerce, the president of public transport users of Sardinia, of Legambiente Sardinia and the provincial secretaries of CGIL, CISL and UIL also took part.

At the discussion table, which saw the participants compact on all the issues concerning the train issue in the Nuorese area, not only the right to mobility was underlined "to be exercised with the same opportunities that the other inhabitants of Sardinia and other capitals have, but also a principle of equality on infrastructures which is protected by the European Union» , underlined prefect Dionisi.

Indeed, Nuoro is the only provincial capital without an ordinary gauge railway linking the city to the national railway network. There was also a debate on the issue of security . Dionisi said he was "very worried", considering that on the narrow-gauge section currently managed by Arst " some accidents have already occurred, the most serious of which in 2007 caused three deaths and eight injuries ".

Also in consideration of these reflections, the prefect underlined that there is "an urgent need to start, possibly also through the sale of the railway line from Arst to Rfi, the construction of an ordinary gauge line, to make it faster and travel is safe ".

For this reason, the prefect of Nuoro will write a formal letter to the transport councilor of the Region, Antonio Moro, reporting what emerged from today's table and asking for a very simple thing: " If the Region wants to transform the Nuoro-Macomer railway line into gauge ordinary transferring it to Rfi, and if so, also putting an agreement on the construction of the Nuoro-Olbia line ». The Government representative in the city calls each of the institutional actors to their responsibilities, and in his speech did not fail to highlight how the construction of the ordinary gauge railway network to and from Nuoro «favors not only the development of an area such as that terribly backward and in the process of depopulation, but also from the perspective of the Einstein Telescope, is good for all of Sardinia because a line that is enriched by a passage towards the only capital left outside, that is Nuoro, is something that will bring benefits the whole island. The next step - concludes the Government representative - will be to ask for a meeting with the Minister of Transport Matteo Salvini ».
