An argument, the assault, the hammer blows to the head that left her no escape .

This is how Igor Sollai reconstructed the murder of his wife Francesca Deidda, 42 years old , who disappeared from San Sperate last May 10th and whose remains were found two months later in a bag in the countryside between Sinnai and San Vito.

A long confession, lasting four hours, that of the 43-year-old truck driver in front of the prosecutor Marco Cocco. He denied Sollai for six months, six months during which he always proclaimed his innocence and tried to direct the investigations towards other leads . In the end he decided to talk , given the serious evidence against him and probably also given the decision of the judges of the Court of Cassation who rejected the request for release from prison.

"I can't understand what I've done, it seems impossible to me," he repeated to the prosecutor and his defense lawyers, Carlo Demurtas and Laura Pirarba. He said he acted alone, at the height of an argument for reasons yet to be clarified, he hit Francesca Deidda on the head with a hammer while she was sitting on the sofa: "She wasn't sleeping," Sollai reported. The murder weapon - a hammer with some rubber parts - has not been found, the 43-year-old is said to have offered to indicate the model, also by looking at those examined by the Carabinieri of the RIS.

Sollai provided the confirmations that investigators had been waiting for months. He recounted the dynamics of the crime, of what happened in the house in San Sperate. Of what he did to hide the body, taken out in a bag and then into the countryside near the 125 where it was found. He also confirmed the plants used to hide the woman's body, the text messages sent pretending to be his wife, messages that had made Francesca's colleagues suspicious .

The 43-year-old spoke at length, but did not provide any information on the motive , which will be discussed in the next interrogations.

"After deep reflection and a series of discussions with us - the defense lawyers explain - Sollai has decided to make a full confession. In the coming weeks there will be further appointments to define every aspect ".

Andrea Deidda, Francesca's brother, expected this confession . "He had been waiting for a moment," says his lawyer Gianfranco Piscitelli, who now expects the maximum sentence for Igor Sollai. " Andrea wants justice ."
