At the trial for the Quirra poisons it is time for the sentence, five years after the start of the proceedings and ten years after the opening of the investigation, after 67 hearings and a process full of interruptions. Fabio Molteni, Alessio Cecchetti, Roberto Quattrociocchi, Valter Mauloni, Carlo Landi, Paolo Ricci, Gianfranco Fois and Fulvio Francesco Ragazzon are the officers who took turns at the helm of the base from 2002 to 2012.
They were acquitted by judge Nicole Serra on the grounds that there is no suitable proof of the fact. Great was the disappointment of the few representatives of the civil party present in the courtroom, including Let's throw the foundations, always at the forefront. A first-degree conviction would have paved the way for eventual compensation.
The defense lawyers are satisfied. Andrea Chelo underlined the importance of a sentence that restores dignity to officers. No fuss when reading the device. The investigation was initiated by the prosecutor Domenico Fiordalisi. It had never happened that the commanders of a military base ended up on trial, all accused of failing to pay attention to accidents and safety. Having read the reasons for the sentence, the Lanusei Public Prosecutor's Office will evaluate the possibility of appealing.
