The corruption trial, which also sees former governor Christian Solinas as a defendant, will open on June 5th before the second criminal section of the Cagliari court.
The preliminary hearing judge Giorgio Altieri has accepted the request for indictment by the public prosecutor Giangiacomo Pilia against the former president of the Region involved in the investigations for the sale of a property and for the matter related to an honorary degree in Albania.
In the first case, it concerns the ruins of a former abbey in Capoterra sold by the number one of the Psd'Az to the entrepreneur Roberto Zedda for 550 thousand euros (of which 375 thousand paid). This property, investigators hypothesize, would however be worth 72 thousand euros . According to the prosecution, the difference in price would be a bribe .
In the second case, Solinas would have promised the appointment of Roberto Raimondi to the general management of the management authority of the Eni-Cbc Mediterranean basin program in exchange for an honorary degree in Albania and courses at an online university in Rome.
Accountant Aldo Cadau , at the time of the facts commissioner of the Zes (Special Economic Zone), was acquitted of disturbed freedom of auctions, after the charge was downgraded by the judge to abuse of office (a fact no longer considered a crime by law), while the judge ordered an extension of the investigation for Raimondi's wife, Melissa Mencarelli, suspected of forgery, while he acquitted her of disturbed freedom of auctions with the same formula as her husband.
Roberto Zedda and former regional councilor Nanni Lancioni (who allegedly acted as an intermediary) will also go to trial for the sale of the former monastery in exchange, according to the indictment, for a supply of thermal scanners to the Region .
There is also the suspicion that the former president facilitated Raimondi's nomination in exchange for the promise of an honorary degree in Tirana and university courses with the complicity of the consultant Christian Stevelli, the Albanian rector Arben Gjata and Alfonso Lovito (E-Campus). They too will go on trial in June.
The defense team will fight with lawyers Salvatore Casula, Alessandro Gentiloni Silveri, Francesco Marongiu, Rita Dedola, Guido and Federico Manca Bitti, Valerio Pirisi, Gianluca Aleppi and Alfredo Diana .
