Twelve thousand square meters ready to become a public open-air space where you can play sports and enjoy free time , the transformation of an under-valued area that will allow a peripheral area to be joined to the rest of the town: the Municipality of Pula is ready to launch the large urban regeneration project of the Mulvoni subdivision.

The works, which will start before the end of the year, include the arrangement of the network of neighborhood streets with the complete reconstruction of pedestrian spaces, which are currently in a state of degradation. In addition, in the subdivision built in the 1980s, rainwater collection and drainage works will be carried out for the first time, an intervention eagerly awaited by residents.

The mayor, Walter Cabasino, sets the objectives of the urban regeneration project that will affect the Mulvoni subdivision: « We want to promote a more sustainable, livable and inclusive city , with particular attention to the environmental and social impact also through architectural choices. We believe it is essential to give back to the community of Pula, but also to those who come from outside, new meeting spaces: connecting the neighborhood to the city center, through integrated interventions of physical, social and economic redevelopment, was one of our objectives. The choice was to use an ecological approach to the project, in order to rediscover the potential of the existing natural heritage, safeguarding its integrity and biodiversity, and convert abandoned spaces into green areas».

Elisabetta Loi, deputy mayor and councilor for Public Works, recalls how the project to give new life to the Mulvoni subdivision had already been considered by previous administrations: «Although it was present in the electoral programs, no one had ever managed to plan this work, the construction site will open before the end of the year . Thanks to these interventions, the neighborhood will soon have new roads and sidewalks, and an adequate system for disposing of rainwater. One of the most important aspects of the urban regeneration project will be the creation of a sports area also designed for people with motor disabilities through the use of sustainable materials and the promotion of an active lifestyle. Furthermore, the elimination of any architectural barriers is planned to allow the use of sports equipment by all users, regardless of their motor conditions».
