A diver had a nasty experience in the waters off Pula. Yesterday, Filippo Porcu, 51, a native of Cagliari but resident in Pula, was injured by a boat propeller. The man suffered serious back injuries and was airlifted to Brotzu Hospital with a red flag. Upon arrival at the Orthopedics Department, his condition was declared non-life threatening.
The alarm was raised in the early afternoon. The occupants of the vessel called for help, bringing the diver aboard before returning to land. A 118 ambulance was already waiting for Porcu.
Rescuers responded immediately and found multiple wounds, some quite deep, so much so that they feared the worst. Hence the decision not to reach the hospital by land and instead opt for air rescue.
