The Provincial Council of Nuoro was sworn in this morning with the swearing-in of President Giuseppe Ciccolini, Mayor of Bitti. Healthcare is at the top of the agenda, with the relaunch of the Social and Health Conference, also to address—he explained—the most pressing needs of communities across the region. The policy statements and the appointment of the delegated councilors will be made at the next meeting, Ciccolini explained, along with the approval of the bylaws.

In his speech, he focused on an interpretative issue regarding the law on Provinces, related to the assembly of mayors, provided for by the national Delrio law but ignored by the 2016 regional law, on which he sought the Region's opinion. "I hope we can return to direct elections so that the territories can reclaim representative democracy and gain greater power," Ciccolini emphasized, appealing for the cooperation of all elected councilors, both majority and minority.
