A 66-year-old man from Pozzomaggiore was arrested for attempted murder. Carabinieri officers from the Bonorva branch arrested the man, who had a criminal record, in flagrante delicto.

In the early afternoon of March 3, in fact, in the countryside of Pozzomaggiore, in the locality of “Sa Punta de su Carru”, a 71-year-old farmer was walking from his country house to the home of an acquaintance when, while crossing the land belonging to the arrested man, which was fenced off by a wire fence, he was threatened with death, attacked and repeatedly hit with a billhook .

The elderly man attempted to defend himself with his arms and improvised objects from the blows aimed at his face, sustaining serious injuries . Upon reaching his home, he alerted his son, who lived with him, who took him to the emergency room at Bosa Hospital. The Carabinieri then intervened, tracking down and arresting the suspect.

The police seized the billhook used to wound the victim and ordered the precautionary seizure of a hunting rifle. The seriously injured 71-year-old's life is not in danger and is currently hospitalized with a guarded prognosis, awaiting transfer to another hospital for critical surgery. The alleged perpetrator is under house arrest.
