Double event to celebrate 40 years of activity of the national archaeological museum Antiquarium Turritano of Porto Torres. Tomorrow, Thursday 12 December at 5 pm, the Regional Directorate of National Museums Sardinia and the Antiquarium museum present the photographic exhibition entitled “Memorie da Turris”. Historical images, vintage shots and newspaper articles, to tell the complex story of the birth and development of the place of culture.

A historical story, seen through original period photos and documents, which make the archaeological excavations carried out in Porto Torres visible to the public, before and after the inauguration of the museum, and the development of the structure that collects and contains a rich and precious cultural heritage. The exhibition will be illustrated by the journalist from Porto Torres, Emanuele Fancellu. The evening will be enlivened by musical interludes by the Cantori della Resurrezione.

Saturday 14 December from 10 am to 6 pm, space for the conference entitled “Tales from Turris”. The protagonists who accompanied the first 40 years of activity of the museum will tell the story of the birth and development of the Antiquarium Turritano. The third and final event closes a week full of cultural content and celebrations for the fortieth anniversary. On stage various personalities linked over time from a personal, professional and institutional point of view to the Museum who, with their contribution and short interventions, between anecdotes and exclusive situations and little known to the general public, will retrace the salient moments that have characterized the development plan and the structural growth of the Antiquarium. It will be the occasion to present a new initiative of the Drmn Sardegna linked to the celebrations connected to the event. In the period between 15 December 2024 and 25 January 2025, users who have visited one of the two museums, between the Sanna Museum in Sassari and the Antiquarium Turritano in Porto Torres, will be entitled to free entry, by presenting the entrance ticket of the other Museum, to visit the second.
