Volunteer artists had restored dignity to a corner of the city of Porto Torres that seemed forgotten. Love, passion and ingenuity, swept away with a single cowardly gesture, by some fool who saw fit to deface the drawings of the staircase in Via Principessa Giovanna.
A defacement of a decorative work that had involved several Turritan artists, young and old who, armed with brushes, colors and a lot of imagination, had enlivened a dirty and degraded place.
The vandals wanted to leave their stupid footprints, indecent drawings and traces of paint on the 60 steps, with offensive phrases that have nothing to do with the civic sense of those who put effort and passion into it. «We committed energy, time and money to express what we had inside, because if you wanted to draw you stole our space?». This is the question that the artists ask the authors of the disfigurement. They ask for respect and above all they underline the difference in the message expressed with their drawings compared to that expressed by the vandals.
