The police and the Olbia Coast Guard seized over 50 kilos of unlabelled clams and 49 lobsters , 11 of which are already dead.
The specimens, most likely caught in Sardinian waters, were destined for the black market of the Peninsula and were about to be embarked on a ferry. But they didn't have the requirements and data necessary for their traceability.
The seizure was possible thanks to a targeted surveillance service at the entrance to the Isola Bianca port of Olbia. The agents checked a van carrying goods and food in a controlled temperature regime. In the cold room, the policemen found seven bags containing shellfish and lobsters.
The intervention of the operational department of the Coast Guard and of the operators of the Marine Protected Area of Tavolara Punta Cosa Cavallo was immediate, who released the 38 surviving lobsters and clams within the protected marine area .
