A police operation is underway, coordinated by the Lanusei Public Prosecutor's Office, to execute a precautionary measure against the alleged perpetrator of the murder of Marco Mameli, the twenty-two-year-old worker from Ilbono, killed in Bari Sardo during the Carnival celebrations on March 1, 2025.

Officers have been working since the early hours of the morning to bring to justice the perpetrator of the crime that had profoundly shaken the Ogliastra community.

The Prosecutor's Office is maintaining the utmost confidentiality regarding the investigation, which would have provided useful evidence to identify the perpetrator of the crime. The murder had sparked great shock and concern among the citizens of Bari Sardo and the entire province.
