Environmental disaster alert in Genna Luas (between Iglesias and Carbonia).

An inspection to verify whether the rainwater purification plant requested from Portovesme srl at the Genna Luas landfill had been built revealed a massive spill of sulfuric water flowing from drainage channels onto a farm road and into nearby waterways.

The contaminated water overflowed (it is unknown for how long, given that it has been raining continuously since January) from a reservoir that an urgent provincial ordinance now requires must be immediately emptied and made safe.

All the details in Stefania Piredda's article, available on newsstands tomorrow and in the digital edition of L'Unione Sarda.
