The 17-year-old boy who was seriously injured in the accident that occurred on Wednesday night in Ploaghe, at the intersection of via Planargia and via Sicilia, is in an induced coma.

The young man hospitalized in the intensive care unit of the Santissima Annunziata in Sassari is still in a reserved prognosis after undergoing neurosurgery to facilitate the drainage of the cerebral hemorrhage.

Following the collision between his scooter and a Renault Kangoo van driven by a 38-year-old man, also from Ploaghe, he suffered a serious head injury and chest injuries. The prognosis remains reserved and only in the next few hours will doctors carry out further evaluations.

From the investigations of the Ploaghe Carabinieri in collaboration with the radiomobile unit of the Sassari company, the boy was found to be without a protective helmet, while the driver of the van tested positive to the breathalyzer test.

Further investigations are underway to determine who is responsible for the serious accident, probably caused by failure to give way: the 17-year-old allegedly failed to obey the stop sign.
