Tragedy touched on in Olzai where, for reasons yet to be ascertained, a 72-year-old man, LC, a retired former firefighter, was run over this morning in the garden of his house by a motor hoe.
It was the man's screams that attracted the attention of his wife, who was at home, and of the neighbors, with an immediate call to 118.
Rescuers and firefighters freed the 72-year-old from the blades that imprisoned his legs, then transported by helicopter rescue to Sassari.
During the rescue operations, the man was always conscious, but was then sedated until he arrived at the hospital where he was in a pharmacological coma.
Leg injuries reported were very serious.
