They allegedly faked the death and disposal of 139 cattle suffering from Lumpy Skin Disease to evade official inspections by the Nuoro Local Health Authority Veterinary Service. This is what emerged from the investigation conducted by the Orotelli Carabinieri, coordinated by the Ottana Company, which led to the reporting of a veterinarian living in Baronia and the fines imposed on two local farmers.

According to the military's reconstruction, the professional allegedly drew up false death and disposal certificates for the livestock , while in reality some animals were still alive and vaccinated after the presumed date of death, as confirmed by checks on the identification codes.

The ploy was intended to circumvent health regulations for the culling of infected animals, thus circumventing disease containment measures. In addition to a veterinarian's report, fines were imposed.

The two farmers have also been asked to suspend Argea funding and public compensation related to the culling of positive animals.
