The Court of Assizes of Appeal of Sassari, presided over by Judge Maria Teresa Lupinu with Giovanni Maria Delogu on her side, confirmed the 22-year prison sentence for Gian Michele Giobbe , accused of the murder of his uncle Esperino , a 73-year-old breeder killed on 17 October 2020 on his farm in Su Filighe, Orotelli.
According to the prosecution's reconstruction, the motive for the crime was linked to a family plot of land on which the victim worked together with his nephews , a context of family tensions that culminated in the murder carried out by beatings.
The sentence came after a long deliberation, rejecting the requests of the defense , represented by Lorenzo Soro and Mario Pittalis, who had asked for acquittal or, alternatively, for the non-application of the aggravating circumstance of cruelty, already excluded in the first instance but requested in the appeal by the public prosecutor Andrea Ghironi who for this reason had requested a life sentence.
Representing the victim's wife and daughters are civil lawyers Gianfranco Flore and Giuseppe Mocci.
