After months of waiting, political stalemates, and discussions that never really came to a conclusion, the Limited Traffic Zone in Oristano's historic center is officially back in operation. The timetable has been reactivated, and this time, with precise instructions.

"Next Thursday, we'll begin replacing the existing vertical signs and installing new ones where necessary," explains Urban Planning Councilor Ivano Cuccu . This is a preliminary step that accompanies the completion of the entire ZTL system. "We'll be ready to start in March," Cuccu clarifies, indicating a timeframe that marks a clear acceleration after the stalemate of the autumn.

Work on the technological front is also progressing. "In recent days, the municipal offices have sent a request to Enel to activate the two electrical panels to which the cameras will be connected ," adds the councilor. The devices will monitor six already-identified access points, with separate entrances and exits along the main streets of the historic center.

Another key issue, however, has already been resolved. "The passes have already been distributed to those who requested them ," Cuccu specifies. "Eventually , there will be approximately 350 eligible applicants ," about a third of the number in circulation in recent years, confirming the goal of reducing vehicle traffic. For those who still have the old pass, "registration on the app using the license plate number will be valid," with the system now entirely digital.

The political process remains in the background, having come to an abrupt halt in November following a meeting between Mayor Massimiliano Sanna and the ruling parties, partly in light of criticism from a group of residents and business owners in the city center. This discussion remained without public discussion and without a clear timeline. Now, however, the technical machinery is back in motion. And with the goal of starting in March (with a grace period), the ZTL is once again an imminent deadline, no longer a postponed decision.
