In Seui today until Sunday it's not Halloween it's Su Prugadoriu 2025.
The event, now in its 29th edition, celebrates the history, roots, and traditions of Seui and the entire island, along with the cult of souls.
The protagonists of the su prugadoriu rituals are children, who go door to door asking for offerings "po is animas." A game for children, a ritual for their ancestors, that has nothing to do with Halloween. Nothing scary; the game is intended to forge a pact of mutual aid between the living and the dead to exorcise fear.
A packed program of events: in addition to local food and wine, artisan workshops will allow visitors to try their hand at making culurgionis, the undisputed star of Seuo's cuisine. Traveling music will accompany visitors as they explore the town, from Via Roma to the most charming corners of the historic center.
The centuries-old Banda Rossini di Seui and the SeuInstreet band are unmissable.
The museum complex is now open, including the civic gallery, the Spanish prison, Casa Farci, Sa omu e sa maja, and the Palazzina Liberty, which this year, thanks to the temporary concession of works by the Municipality of Ussassai, will host an exhibition dedicated to the artist Maria Lai, originally from Ulassai.
Ten drawings dedicated to the Nativity and two paintings titled "Weaving" are on display; the other temporary exhibition hosted at the Liberty is a collection of Nuragic bronzes, provided for the event by the Superintendence of Cagliari. At 7:00 PM today, the "po is animas" collection, conducted by children from door to door, will be revived. The other revival is dedicated to the age-old tradition of "s'attitu," the lament sung to bid farewell to the deceased.
Various book presentations, short film screenings, and conferences will be held throughout the day. These include, on Sunday at 10:15 a.m., "Food and Magic in Sardinia: Food Culture from Tradition to the Present Day," organized by the "Biodiversità Mela de Ussassa" committee. Speakers include Emanuela Katia Pilloni, an archaeologist and scholar of popular traditions; Giampaolo Desogus, an expert on local languages and customs; and Maria Serrau, former president of the Ussàssai Pro Loco. Moderator: journalist Antonella Loi.
Seui is also landscape and nature; just look to the horizon to glimpse its mountains, woods, and the majestic Montarbu forest. Everything else is the alchemy of the synergies of a great community celebration.
The complete program of the 2025 "Su prugadoriu" event is available on the Seui Municipality website.
