“Monstrous” crowd in the historic center of Sassari for the eighth edition of the Su Mortu Mortu Festival.
An initiative dedicated to the rediscovery of the "Sardinian Halloween" tradition, organized by the Tusitala and Il Corso associations with the artistic direction of Monica De Murtas and the patronage, support and economic contribution of the Municipality of Sassari and the Sardinia Foundation.
The highlight of the evening was the procession which started from the civic theatre, which crossed the center transforming it into an open-air theatre, with the dark characters of Sardinian folklore as protagonists, thanks to performers and figures from the Tusitala company and Abc Animation, to the costumes of Fabio Loi and at the traveling giant bubble show by Animabimbi Magorì.
«This event has now entered the hearts of the people of Sassari», explains the artistic director De Murtas. Adding: «An ancient Sardinian tradition is thus reborn from the oblivion into which it had fallen, "awakened" also by the global success of the Anglo-Saxon Halloween. These two traditions have fascinating affinities that every year we also talk about in the meeting on 30 October on the “Tradition of su mortu mortu in Sardinia”».
