A comparison of large research infrastructures , starting with the Einstein Telescope , the new European detector for gravitational waves that Italy has applied to host in Sardinia, in the former Sos Enattos mine: this is the theme of the conference scheduled for today and tomorrow in Su Gologone, in the Nuoro area.
Organized by the Ministry of University and Research in collaboration with the National Institute of Nuclear Physics as part of the Italian Presidency of the G7 on large research infrastructures and their impact on society, the event kicks off at 9:15 with the inaugural session in the presence of Minister Anna Maria Bernini.
The conference, as announced by Mue and Infn in a press release, aims to analyse the crucial role that large research infrastructures play in the progress of scientific knowledge , as well as their economic, social and geopolitical implications .
The initiative also includes a visit to the site of the former Sos Enattos mine , which Italy has nominated to host the large research infrastructure of the future Einstein Telescope gravitational wave detector.
