Another seven cases of Omicron variant have been confirmed today on the samples analyzed and sequenced by the Microbiology and Virology structure of the Aou of Sassari, identified as suspicious in the week before Christmas.

Five of the samples had been identified following the investigations that the structure directed by Professor Salvatore Rubino carried out on 21 December, as part of the days of surveillance (flash survey) that the Higher Institute of Health fixes twice a month for the whole 'Italy. Two, on the other hand, had been registered a few days earlier and related to a citizen who had returned from abroad and his contact.

Thus the cases of Omicron ascertained throughout the island rise to 60, but in fact they are many more since sequencing is carried out only on a small percentage of positive swabs.

Meanwhile, the amount of swabs analyzed by the laboratory is also growing, which yesterday examined over 1,200, identifying 130 positivity.
