The mayors of Sassari, Alghero and Porto Torres oppose offshore wind farm projects off the Sardinian coast. "The national energy interest cannot override the interests of the communities, renewable energies and the ecological transition are not in question but the method and the effects on the territory are in question. We are not sideways, but we want to know what happens", said Nanni Campus, Mario Conoci and Massimo Mulas , in a meeting called at Palazzo Ducale, in Sassari, to explain the reasons for the no.
"The offshore wind farms off the north-west coast of Sardinia literally hit communities that know only the enormous disadvantages in terms of environmental devastation and sacrifice of the territory in exchange for no compensation", explained the three mayors. In front of the Alghero promontory, "Sardinia NorthWest" is planning a plant, on behalf of the Italian-Swedish company Avenhexicon, a wind farm of 382 square kilometers with towers 300 meters high.
