Nurri, flames devastate “Su Nurazzolu”: helicopters and Canadair in action

A large fire broke out in the late morning today in the countryside of Nurri, in the Su Nurazzolu area. The flames, fueled by the wind and high temperatures, are affecting a large wooded and grazing area and are putting a strain on the teams working on the fire front.
The rescue operation was impressive: two regional helicopters took off from the operational bases of Villasalto and Fenosu , flanked by two military aircraft. An HH-139 of the Italian Air Force took off from Decimomannu and an HH-412 of the Italian Army took off from the Elmas base. Given the gravity of the situation, the intervention of a Canadair_26 from Olbia, already operating in the area, was also requested.
The fire-fighting operations are coordinated directly on site by the Director of Fire-Fighting Operations (DOS) of the Forestry Corps of the Isili station, in constant contact with the regional fire-fighting centre.
