Revolution in city traffic until July 11thPer restare aggiornato entra nel nostro canale Whatsapp
The asphalting work on Via Trieste began this morning, the last step of the urban redevelopment project financed with PNRR funds. After resurfacing the sidewalks, it's now the turn of the asphalt, but the work - necessary and long-awaited - has already caused the first problems for city traffic, with slow traffic and queues in various areas of the center .
The construction site, which will affect one of the main access roads to the city, will lead to significant changes to traffic. According to the order signed by the commander of the Local Police, Massimiliano Zurru, from today until July 11, between 9 am and 6 pm, one-way traffic will be active from via Mannironi towards piazza Italia . At the same time, a parking ban with forced removal is established in the entire affected area, with the exception of vehicles of the company in charge of the work.
The repercussions on traffic were immediate. Those arriving from via Brigata Sassari and via Deffenu were forced to divert onto via Lamarmora, causing heavy slowdowns at the crossroads roundabout, which was also congested for those arriving from viale Sardegna. Chaos also occurred for motorists entering from via Trieste and via Istria, who were forced to take the narrow streets of via Giovanni Ciusa Romagna, creating further critical issues.
The work schedule includes a traveling construction site, divided into several phases . It will start from the intersection between via Mannironi and via Brigata Sassari, then proceed towards via Redipuglia, then via Piave and via Europa, concluding the final stretch in piazza Italia up to the intersection with via De Clopper.
The municipal administration invites citizens to pay maximum attention to temporary signs and, when possible, to choose alternative routes to avoid slowdowns , especially during rush hour.
In the meantime, drivers are advised to be patient and to travel a little in advance on their daily journeys: for a month, Via Trieste is changing its face... And its direction of travel.
