The Electoral Commission, chaired by the President of the Court of Nuoro Mauro Pusceddu, began this morning the verification of the minutes relating to sections 34, 35 and 39, which were excluded from the final count of the municipal elections of Nuoro. A technical step, but potentially decisive for the composition of the new Municipal Council.
During the proceedings, a material error has already emerged in the minutes of polling station 35 , where the scrutineers corrected only one of the two official copies.
"This is a material error that is easily detectable," said President Pusceddu. "The correct data is consistent, but it was not reported on both copies of the minutes, as required by procedure."
The situation is much more delicate in sections 34 and 39, where contested and unattributed ballots were found. The Commission is proceeding with an in-depth examination, because those votes could be the ones that could determine the rebalancing of the council majority.
According to still unofficial data, the Democratic Party would need only 29 more votes to win a sixth councilor, taking it away from the Progressives. A step that would change the balance within the majority that supports the elected mayor Emiliano Fenu.
Attention remains high, therefore, because the verdict of the ballot boxes could be rewritten even by a few ballots. The Commission is working to complete the checks within the day.
