A four-day-old baby was rushed to the Bambin Gesù pediatric hospital in Rome for spinal cord problems. The lifesaving flight was carried out by the Areus Echo Lima 1 helicopter, which took off a few minutes before midday today from the Olbia base.

The little boy, the son of a couple from a town in the Nuoro area, was born at San Francesco in Nuoro where in the morning the doctors, in light of the critical situation found in the tests carried out in the previous hours, decided to transfer him to the Roman hospital specializing in infant therapies.

The baby was placed in a thermal cot and loaded aboard the 118 vehicle that landed in the early afternoon on the internal parking lot of the Vatican. From there, he was transferred, aboard an ambulance, to the Bambin Gesù Emergency Room where the medical staff took care of the little boy, who underwent all the necessary tests and subsequent therapies.
