Nuoro bids farewell to its first socialist mayor, Martino Corda.
Mayor from 1983 to 1985 and married to the first and only female mayor of Nuoro Simonetta Murru (who passed away 7 months ago), Corda died last night in Macomer.
Today the funeral in the church of Grazie, celebrated by the parish priest Pinuccio Demarcus and by Don Francesco Mariani. Authorities and politicians were present. Next to him the gonfalon of the city.
"Life is transformed, and it is in this perspective that I would like to walk through Martino's life - Don Mariani said emotionally in his homily -. He was 85 years old, he was a chartered accountant and teacher, the first socialist mayor of Nuoro and it will be up to his wife Simonetta to become the first and only mayor of the city. However, I am interested in underlining some of his personal traits. He detested everything that sidetracked the freedom of individuals and had great tolerance. He was in love with life. His religion, his daily bread, was politics that gave him so much satisfaction, but also bitter disappointments. Thank you Martino, see you soon".
A message also shared by relatives, acquaintances, students and friends who remember him as a loving, well-liked, competent and humble person, present, inclusive, joyful and always positive.
