The Nuoro Chamber of Commerce raises the alarm for a series of scams that have been committed against local businesses by fraudulently using the name of the body.

In fact, numerous reports have been received by the Chamber of Commerce regarding "misleading communications" received from the activities registered in the Business Register of the Chamber of Commerce.

"Some private subjects - explain the body - use the name of the Chamber of Commerce or similar terms to the name of the Chamber of Commerce or its services, in order to induce companies to communicate data or pay sums by postal order, bank transfer, etc ".

Furthermore, it seems that such misleading communications "are sent more frequently when the company is registered in the Business Register or during the payment period of the annual fee".

Obviously "these subjects have nothing to do with the Chambers of Commerce and with the obligations required by businesses".

Therefore the invitation to companies, "before paying or communicating data, to verify the origin of the notice received: to find out if it is a mandatory fulfillment or an incorrect commercial offer, it is possible to ask the Chamber of Commerce for clarification via telephone or email or to your trade association or your trusted professional ".

Having ascertained that the communication does not come from the Chamber of Commerce, “the company can make a report to the Competition and Market Authority through the institutional website. AGCOM will launch an investigation and at the end it will decide on the deceptiveness or otherwise of the communication object of the report ".

The Authority, which in the past has already sanctioned for unfair commercial practices, to help businesses defend themselves has also published a special handbook also available on the website of the Nuoro Chamber of Commerce.
