The summary trial into the prison escape of Marco Raduano, Foggia boss of the Vieste mafia clan, who escaped from Badu 'e Carros prison on February 24, 2023, ended today with ten convictions and two acquittals.
The Cagliari court recognized the aggravating circumstance of mafia methods. Raduano himself was sentenced to one year and eight months in prison. Salvatore Deledda (a prison officer defended by Stefano Stocchino and Erica Dessí) and Mauro Gusinu (defended by Agostinagelo Marras) were acquitted. The other ten sentences range from one year and eight months to a maximum of five years.
According to the Prosecutor's Office, the escape was made possible by a network of accomplices both inside and outside the prison. Raduano, now a cooperating witness, is ready to testify in the next stages of the trial.
For Raduano, the prosecution had requested a sentence of 1.8 years, the court imposed a sentence of 2.6 years.
