Emiliano Fenu has just arrived at the Municipality, awaiting the official proclamation as the new mayor of Nuoro. The formal act is however temporarily suspended due to the checks still underway in section 34, where a discrepancy in the vote counts was found.

The president of the electoral commission, Mauro Pusceddu, explained the details of the situation: "The president of the section was not present, so the secretariat was also reconvened. During the re-checking of the counting tables, we noticed that some votes for the mayors had not been reported, for a total of 22 preferences. Specifically, 16 went to Fenu, 3 to Cucca and 3 to Bidoni".

The problem arose precisely because of the lack of these 22 votes. After a new analysis, the number of ballots actually missing was reduced to 5, and finally to 4, thanks to the correction of another error related to the counting of preferences assigned to the councilors.

«A bar used to indicate a zero – explained Pusceddu – was misinterpreted, transforming a 37 into a 38 in the Bidoni list».

The four missing preferences do not affect the counting of the lists, but only the data of the mayoral candidates. However, even if they were all attributed to a single candidate, they would not be enough to change the outcome of the consultation. A further element of confusion was represented by the total number of voters: initially indicated incorrectly as 507, while the official data - also confirmed by the surveys on the turnout recorded at the closing of the polling stations - clearly speak of 503 voters in section 34. "The correct figure was 503 - clarified Pusceddu - but an incorrect check temporarily brought the number to 507, messing up the calculations". Emiliano Fenu's proclamation is therefore expected shortly, as soon as the verification of section 34 is completed and the final result is ratified.
