A permanent police post on the ground floor of the San Francesco hospital in Nuoro, in a room specially set up in the emergency room.

The garrison was inaugurated this morning to prevent and, if necessary, repress various crimes against things or people and in particular to protect healthcare personnel, who are increasingly victims of aggression throughout Italy.

It will also be a point of reference for citizens, especially in emergency situations during the triage and management of a large number of red codes.

The ceremony was attended by the commissioner of Nuoro, Alfonso Polverino, the prefect Giancarlo Dionisi and the strategic management of the Nuoro local health authority.
The fixed presence will cover the time slot from 8 to 20, while the night service will be guaranteed by the police patrols and by an internal number that directly connects the Emergency Room with the operations room of the Nuoro police station.
«The dialogue between the Local Health Authority and the Police Headquarters - explains the General Manager Paolo Cannas - had been underway for some time to study an adequate solution to first of all preserve the safety of personnel, especially in the Emergency Department. Fortunately, no serious incidents have occurred to date, I am thinking above all of physical attacks, such as to require an intervention. Now, thanks to the initiative of the Ministry of the Interior, it has been possible to set up a permanent police post, demonstrating that dialogue between institutions pays off in the long run, and this will certainly give greater serenity to the Nuoro hospital health workers ».
