Sixteen hours at the mercy of the waves and currents in the waters of Cala Ginepro : only thanks to his great willpower, his determination and his experience at sea, Nicola Campus, 43 years old, born in Cagliari but always resident in Olbia , was managed to save himself after ending up offshore while practicing wingfoiling .

It happened yesterday, when the bay was crowded with fans of this sport. Campus, a well-known sportsman in Olbia, windsurfer, sailor and now also an expert winger, was surprised by the sudden currents that took him out to sea .

It was his wife who activated the emergency car, worried about his failure to return home. Thus the searches by the Coast Guard and the Carabinieri began.

In the meantime, the 43-year-old never stopped swimming leaning on his board, in an attempt to regain the shore , despite the darkness and tiredness: the happy ending around 4.30 this morning , when he managed to reach the beach and the staff of 118 gave him first aid for an evident state of hypothermia.
