He was checking to see if there was a hole in the roof that was causing water infiltration when a portion of the roof collapsed, swallowing him.

Tragedy struck this afternoon in Narcao, in the Sulcis region, where 80-year-old Alfonso Fanutza lost his life. He fell approximately four meters into his home. A relative, shortly afterward, noticed what had happened and raised the alarm.

Local police officers, the Carabinieri and 118 arrived on the scene. Unfortunately, the doctors could do nothing but certify the death.
