"The Municipality of Muros has no jurisdiction over the management and safety of the state road, as it is a piece of infrastructure that falls outside the local authority's responsibility . The causes of the accident are currently being investigated by the law enforcement officers who responded to the scene, and we thank them for their professional and timely work." The mayor of Muros, Federico Tolu, intervened to provide some clarification on the serious accident, which occurred on the night of February 15th in the town's territory, along state road 131, resulting in the death of 22 sheep.

The mayor emphasizes: "Regarding requests to install fencing along the boundaries between the roadway and the surrounding rural areas, it is emphasized that such a large-scale project would be impractical both economically and for logistical reasons. In our country, and particularly in Sardinia, the practice of transhumance is rooted in an ancient tradition deeply rooted in the local culture. However," Mayor Tolu adds, "attention is drawn to the need for constant vigilance on the part of herd owners, who are responsible for caring for and controlling the animals, preventing their transit without adequate supervision, as required by the Highway Code." The Municipal Administration expresses relief that, despite the seriousness of the incident, no motorists were injured, reiterating its confidence in the work of the competent authorities in determining responsibility.
