Murder of Bitti, the killer confessed to the mayor: "I met him in the village, he was shaken"
It was Giuseppe Ciccolini himself who led the man to the barracksIt was the mayor of Bitti Giuseppe Ciccolini who heard the confession of Giuseppe Pittalis, the 55-year-old farmer who this morning at dawn hammered his brother Giorgio to death at the height of a dispute in the countryside of the town.
The mayor met Pittalis in the village, he said: « I saw him very shaken and I asked him what was wrong. At that point he confessed to me that he had just killed his brother ».
The mayor himself accompanied the man to the barracks: «He already intended to turn himself in – specified Ciccolini -. I asked him if he needed someone to accompany him, he said yes and so I took him to the barracks ».
In the late afternoon Pittalis is still in front of the military to answer questions from Captain Fabrizio Ricciardi, in order to reconstruct the motive. In the evening he will be transferred to the Badu 'e Carros prison in Nuoro.
In Bitti it is said that the two brothers were always together both in the countryside, where they managed a flock of hundreds of sheep, and in the village, where they lived alone at home after their mother's death a few years ago.
Another brother lives with the rest of the family in Onanì.
Giuseppe is described as the more sociable and ironic of the two, Giorgio on the other hand was a little more reserved, but both were always kind to everyone. For this reason the tragedy seems inexplicable to the fellow villagers, if not by pulling a sudden raptus as a possible motivation.
The investigation is coordinated by the prosecutors of Nuoro Giorgio Bocciarelli and Riccardo Belfiori. The autopsy on the victim's body has been granted, which will be carried out by the coroner at the San Francesco hospital in the capital of Barbagia.
