The first indiscretion arrived two days ago , now it should be time for the official announcement. Monsignor Gianfranco Saba, Archbishop of Sassari, is the new Military Ordinary for Italy: an appointment given by Pope Francis. For this reason, since it is an incompatible position, he will be forced to leave the role within the Archdiocese of Sassari.

Monsignor Saba has summoned priests, deacons, religious, lay faithful and representatives of the institutions to the Cathedral of San Nicola at 11.45 am , where he is expected to announce his new prestigious appointment.

Saba, appointed in 2017, is originally from Olbia and is 56 years old . Today, the mandate of Ser Monsignor Santo Marcianò, who has led the Military Ordinariate (which takes care of the faithful belonging to the armed forces) since 2013, expires.
