Sixteen agents of the local police will patrol the Sassari beaches of Platamona, Fiume Santo, Porto Ferro, Argentiera, Porto Palmas and La Frana from 12 June to ensure the safety of bathers.

The "Safe Coasts 2022" campaign kicks off on Sunday, as part of which the Command of via Carlo Felice in Sassari will ensure the protection of the environment, compliance with the civil rules that allow the beach to be enjoyed in serenity and protection against acts of petty crime.

An enhanced service also with activities carried out in plain clothes and aimed at monitoring that transgressive conduct is not implemented such as the abandonment of cigarette butts (highly polluting) and small waste on the beaches, the contrast of phenomena such as the theft of objects and other offenses. People who smoke on the beach will also be sanctioned: behavior prohibited by municipal regulation.

The checks, the local police said, will be daily and will be strengthened on weekends.

Finally, particular attention will be given to discourage and prevent illegal camping, the indiscriminate parking of vehicles in wooded areas and dunes, the lighting of fires to power camping stoves, and the abandonment of waste. And periodic flyovers will be carried out with the drones available to the Local Police Command with the aim of monitoring the less accessible areas of the coasts, for example the pine forest of Porto Ferro and Lake Baratz.
