Two people arrested, including an assistant chief of the Penitentiary Police, and about fifteen mobile phones seized.
This is the result of the investigations conducted by the Nuoro Flying Squad into the security breaches in the Badu 'e Carros prison, from which the boss Marco Raduano escaped last February .
During the checks, the agents, in collaboration with the Penitentiary Police, managed to recover all the devices introduced into the penitentiary secretly : one was found on a prisoner, others were found in the cells or in the common areas of the prison.
REMEDIATION AND ARRESTS – The investigators also proceeded with the "reclamation" of each cell and each section of the penitentiary.
According to what emerged from the investigations, the cell phones were paid for by the inmates - almost all confined to the high security wing, now under investigation for receiving stolen goods - and were delivered to Nuoro within the packages transported by a courier to the arrested chief assistant Salvatore Deledda, 38, from Siniscola (the other person involved is Carmela Mele, sister of a boss of the Mele di Pianura clan).
THE PRICES – For the single telephone, between 100 and 250 euros were paid out, but among the traced transactions, one for 1,200 euros also emerged.
Five parcels that made it through the prison and one, found during searches this morning in Naples during the arrest of Carmela Mele, was ready for shipment.
The investigators have, for now, excluded investigative evidence that could suggest that one of these phones was used by Marco Raduano to organize the escape, but the investigations continue.
The telephone cards of the mobile phones delivered were made out to foreign citizens whose assets are being investigated.
«SAFETY RESTORED» – «The prison has been completely reclaimed and the security facilities have been rebuilt», says the head of the Penitentiary Police Amerigo Fusco sent to Nuoro after the escape of the Apulian boss Marco Raduano. Adding: «There is no Badu 'e Carros case: there was a management problem in the case of the escape, which has now been overcome, thanks also to the intervention of the prison administration which has taken action so that the security target can be restored that the prison of Badu 'e Carros has always demonstrated and will continue to demonstrate».
